Global Sourcing after the Meltdown: In Search of Sustainability

June 3, 2009

New York City

About the Summit:

Sustainability has become more then politically correct slogan in global PR campaign. Sustainability-driven leaders harness the market potential for green products and services, especially in the times of global crisis. While capitalizing on the market opportunities, green leaders get a competitive advantage by capturing untapped energy of  of employees’ good will and customers green preferences while mitigating the risks, and reducing the costs. As green leaders create a crisis-proven long-term shareholder values, investors are increasingly upgrading their portfolios with sustainable enterprises.

An increasing number of investors look at sustainability as a framework for disciplined and responsible management, a key success factor in achieving economic gains.  Although sustainability has found its permanent place in corporate boardrooms, execution  is still a challenging journey.   Implementing sustainability in global sourcing operations becomes even more complex as it creates its own unique challenges.  Not only sustainable HR or ops initiatives, or product-development programs must deliver the long-term value through the supply chain, they must first past the test of cost-effectiveness as a competitive advantage of sourcing solutions.  Global service providers that subscribe to sustainable strategies, will benefit by gaining competitive, green advantage with the global organizations.

The 2009 Sustainability in Global Sourcing Summit will examine how corporate sustainability creates stockholder value through the supply chain, especially in the area of global social responsibility.  This event will serve as a forum for thought leaders from the business, academic and political arenas to:

  • Challenge the pre-recession assumptions of global growth based on short-term results driven by the quarterly reporting system
  • Propose a framework of aligning economic growth with sustainable social development
  • Redefine the role of global sourcing after the global crisis
